RUSH (2013) starring Chris Hemsworth, Olivia Wilde, and Daniel Bruhl is a biography set in the 1970's where no sports record or personal accomplishments were ever deemed to be over-the-top. A time when a race car driver's sexual conquests on and off the track were just as celebrated as his wins, driver James Hunt managed to rise to the top of his game.

During the 1976 Formula 1 race car season, English playboy James Hunt and his rival, the Austrian Niki Lauda, risked their lives to lap each other in what is considered to be one of the world's most dangerous sports. Without any margin for error, both drivers pushed themselves, and their cars, to the limit of their endurance, aware that just one mistake could spell their imminent deaths and an end to one of sport's most glamorous careers.

Two time Academy Award winning director Ron Howard chose not to use any of the original crash footage for RUSH, opting to shoot on locations in Germany, Austria, and the U.K. instead. Presenting a well balanced blend of racing and personal struggles, audiences will effortlessly find themselves invested in Hunt and Lauda's explosive rivalry, ultimately debating why any man would choose a career in which a moment's hesitation might spell immediate dismemberment or even death.

After streamlining the muscular physique he had developed for his starring roles in the THOR action movies, Hemsworth quickly realized that even his celebrity status would not enable himself, or Brush, to actually drive Formula 1 race cars. Instead, Formula 3 cars with cosmetic bodywork were substituted during each of the filming sequences.

With one of my favorite directors Ron Howard at the helm of this movie, it's not surprising that RUSH is an excellent blend of high-speed action and personal backstory. Rated-R. 123 Mins, Action, Biography, Drama. **** 4 stars out of 5.
